Strukturen aus Plastikabfall, recycelter Pappe und organischem Holz, Myzel
Pilze, bemerkenswerte alchemistische Kreaturen der Natur, bewohnen und zersetzen
weggeworfene und unerwünschte Materialien, sowohl organische als auch
nicht-organische, und verwandeln sie in einen fruchtbaren Boden für die nächste
Phase ihres Lebenszyklus. Der sichtbare Fruchtkörper, den viele mit Pilzen verbinden,
ist ein verschwindend geringer Teil dieser Lebewesen. In unsichtbaren, weit verzweigten
Netzen wachsen sie durch Erdgründe und Wälder und stehen eng miteinander
in Verbindung.
Lacy Barry erschafft eine Welt, die durch leichte Varianz und leuchtende Farben irritiert
und anzieht. Den Begriff der Nachhaltigkeit befragend, sprießen die knallig-bunten
Pilze aus dem Boden – verziert mit biologisch abbaubaren Farben und Glitzerstaub.
Mit ihren farbenfrohen Fruchtkörpern, schleimigen Knopfkappen und schwammigen
Ausstülpungen strahlen diese Strukturen eine Schönheit aus, die die Form der Pilzfrucht
widerspiegelt. Gleichzeitig bietet die Installation Schatten, Räume für Licht,
Nischen zum Nisten, Oberflächen zum Anhaften und einen luftigen Raum zum Wachsenfür lebendiges Myzel.
Während die Pilze ihre Sporen in die Atmosphäre hauchen, erinnert uns diese skulpturale Glitzerwelt daran, wenig sichtbare Lebenssysteme zu würdigen und die kontinuierliche Entwicklung, die uns umgibt, anzuerkennen.

Mushrooms, nature’s remarkable alchemists, inhabit and decompose discarded and
unwanted materials, both organic and non-organic, transforming them into fertile
soil for the next phase of their life cycle. The visible fruiting body that many associate
with fungi is a vanishingly small part of these creatures. They grow in invisible, widely
branching networks through earths and forests and are closely interconnected.
Lacy Barry creates a world that irritates and attracts through slight variance and bright
colours. Questioning the notion of sustainability, the brightly coloured mushrooms
sprout from the ground - adorned with biodegradable paints and glitter dust. With their colourful fruiting bodies, slimy button caps and spongy protrusions, these structures exude a beauty that mirrors the shape of the mushroom fruit. At the same time, the installation offers shadows, spaces for light, niches for nesting, surfaces for clinging and an airy space for living mycelium to grow.
As the mushrooms breathe their spores into the atmosphere, this sculptural glittering
world reminds us to appreciate barely visible life systems and acknowledge the
continuous unfolding that surrounds us.
